TAP BOLTS
The term “Tap Bolt” is a fastener industry expression for fully threaded bolts. Earnest offers a full line of fully threaded hex head tap bolts that offers solutions to many of today’s fastener problems.
Fully threaded tap bolts are used in applications that require positioning of a tapped bushing, such as jack screw applications.
Tap Bolts also provide greater flexibility in the number of lengths that need to be stocked. The fully threaded design ensures that sufficient threads are present for a wide range of joint thicknesses. Standard “partially threaded” hex bolts have strict tolerances on their thread length. This results in the need to stock a multiple number of lengths to fit each application. The use of the incorrect length bolt will result in the nut “bottoming out” on the shoulder preventing a fully tightened joint.
The greater flexibility provided by Tap Bolts make them popular in many maintenance and repair applications.

At Earnest, we’re committed to offering products that meet industry requirements. Our line of Tap Bolts is made to the dimensional requirements of ANSI B18.2.1 for Hex Head Bolts. The threads are made to the requirements of ANSI B1.1 Class 2A.
Earnest's Tap Bolts are also manufactured to the material and heat treatment requirements specified by SAE J429 for Grade 5 and Grade 8 Strength Levels, ensuring that the bolts hold up for whatever application you are using them in. They are available in Plain or with a Zinc Electro-Plating, which enables the bolt to resist corrosion.
